We had a great start to last weekend celebrating St. George’s Day on Saturday.
Residents worked together to create English roses and St. George flags to decorate our homes and we all enjoyed a day of traditional English food. The feast began with a full English breakfast, followed by toad in the hole and bread and butter pudding for dinner, finishing off with cheese and chutney sandwiches, pork pie and St. George buns for tea.
Over the past few days, we’ve been busy with a variety of games and crafts. Residents enjoyed making family portraits using buttons, which was a great time to talk about our families whilst exercising our fingers and brains. Later in the week, we made flower and butterfly baskets ahead of our annual May Day celebrations.
Lots of our ladies took the opportunity to have their hair and nails done before the bank holiday. Meanwhile, our lounges played host to several fierce games of dominoes.
Awards
On Tuesday, we were delighted that Nicola Richards was recognised with a Rising Star Award from South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Integrated Care System for World Administrative Day. Well done Nicola - thoroughly deserved!
We were also pleased to nominate two more of our fantastic members of staff for this month’s Social Care Hero Awards:
Nurse Val Jackson at Westbourne House has worked with us for 20 years, always delivering high standards of nursing care. Always a team player, Val’s joyful personality boosts morale and ensures all residents feel valued.
Megan Ladds is an administrator at Northfield Nursing Home. Sociable Megan provides support to both colleagues and visitors to the home. She always aims to please and is able to empathise with those who may be feeling vulnerable or upset, but isn't afraid to stand her ground and fight for what's right when needed. We hugely value her reliability and responsible approach.
Best of luck to both Megan and Val!
