Newsletter: Love is in the air
Nothing helps cheer up a wet and dreary February better than filling the home with hearts and flowers. Our teams went to town with decorations for Valentine’s Day this year, with love hearts galore - from balloons to bunting, candles to confetti - we had it all!
Residents shared that loving feeling with activities including making beautiful hanging love hearts to decorate our log tree and we all indulged in some fabulous Valentine cupcakes. It was a great way to start the week and boosted spirits all round.
Our residents have been thinking about their loved ones and many were pleased to see family members either in person, using our visitor pods or via video call, as well as remembering those who are sadly no longer with us. It was a good opportunity to reminisce about times past and share experiences.
Spotlight on… Jean
We would like to start introducing some of our staff and long-term residents on this page and can think of no better place to start than with Jean. A Northfield resident since December 2020, Jean, who will be turning 90 later this year, is one of our most creative ladies. She has always loved doing things with her hands, winning awards for decoupage in her youth, so she particularly enjoys getting involved in craft activities.
Jean has spent her entire life in Sheffield and says that friendship has always been very important to her. She often regales us with tales of the wartime city, explaining that when the local school was bombed, Jean and her friends brought the children into their front rooms so they could continue their education.
Jean says, “the hospitality at Northfield is fantastic. There is a great variety of activities and staff are always willing and helpful.”
