Saira Ali - a wonderful woman, mother and carer
We are all still reeling from the tragic loss of our friend and colleague, Saira. Palms Row is far more than just a workplace. We are a family, so to lose one of our own under such violent circumstances has been utterly devastating.
Saira was a much loved member of the team at Northfield. She dedicated her career to caring for elderly and vulnerable people and her compassion made such a positive difference to so many lives.
Saira’s colleagues have been offered bereavement support to help them through this difficult time and plans are underway for permanent memorials to Saira. The local Chaplaincy is visiting the home to support everyone which we are grateful for. We are opening a memory book where those who knew Saira are encouraged to write their thoughts. We will also be planting forget-me-nots and releasing balloons in her name.
Despite our profound sadness, we have taken comfort from the tributes to Saira which have flooded in from colleagues, residents and their families. A selection of which are below:
“She was a lovely lady & will be missed greatly. A wonderful woman, mother & carer.”
“Such awful news of the tragic loss of Saira. She was a lovely lady, gentle, caring with a great sense of humour. May she rest in peace - my heart goes out to her children.”
“Gracious, caring, dignified, polite. RIP Saira.”
“Rest in paradise Saira you will be missed by us all.”
Our deepest sympathies continue to go out to Saira’s family and friends during this incredibly traumatic time and we would urge anyone who is struggling or needs to talk to reach out for support.
